Husk – Seven Pyramids

Husk – Seven Pyramids
Self released – 2013
Rock, Doom, Metal, Sludge, Prog
Rated: ***

The guys from Stoner HiVe will do just about anything when a cake is promised. And it doesn’t even matter if it ends up to be one of those freaky carrot cakes. Indeed. The guys from Husk were trying to buy us. Not for a positive review; but simply for almost 50 minutes of our time. To check out their debut album Seven Pyramids. But that ain’t necessary, cause we do that stuff for free. As long as the music we are served is done with the right set of nerves, the right heart and for the love of the heavy riffs. And not long after the opening track commences we’re already wiping the anticipating sweat of our heads and we can rest easy. True heavy music with the right kind of spirit. With a thin productional sound the record has an obscure and luscious charm. Their heavines comes in waves and crashes like the roaring surf of the ocean. There’s this proggy, post-rock element to their otherwise marching doom metal and muddy sludge. Which makes it all highly dynamic and it’s savory and august and we like it. We do wonder however who the bassplayer is from now on?!

  1. Hang on now, I won't hear a word against carrot cake, truly one of the greats. And it's one of your 5 a day fruit and veg surely.
